Development of the Nusantara Capital City also targets nine planning regions
Penajam Paser Utara (ANTARA) - The Nusantara Capital City Authority (IKN) says that development of the Nusantara Capital City in parts of Penajam Paser Utara Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, in East Kalimantan Province, is not limited to the core government administrative area (KIPP) but is also directed towards nine planning regions.
“Development will not only take place in the KIPP but will also be directed through nine planning regions,” said IKN Authority spokesperson Troy Pantouw when asked about updates on the development of Indonesia’s new capital in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, on Friday.
The planning regions include the government centre, the economic, business and health hub, renewable energy, entertainment zone, education, research and innovation hub, and the food industry sector.
The direction of the nine planning regions also opens up space for collaboration with Balikpapan City, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, Samarinda City, and numerous other areas in East Kalimantan Province, he explained.
The IKN development continues to proceed under three financing schemes: the state budget (APBN), public-private partnerships (KPBU), and private investment
To date, he added, developments in the new capital area include road access construction, health facilities, banking clusters, educational institutions, places of worship, and the planning of the Sepaku area.
The IKN Authority, he said, remains committed to strengthening social aspects, culture, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), environmental management, and support services for residents, then the broad direction of development through the concept of the Nusantara Economic Superhub.
Thus, the IKN would not only be built as the centre of government, but also as a new growth hub connected to surrounding areas in East Kalimantan Province.
The Nusantara Economic Superhub is the direction of IKN’s economic development, linking strategic clusters to foster innovative new growth, with the aim of becoming a new economic growth centre in Indonesia.
Regarding the Constitutional Court ruling on the IKN Law and the Special Capital Region of Jakarta (DKJ) Law, he said this does not invalidate the IKN as the national capital; instead it strengthens the legal corridor for moving the capital from Jakarta to IKN.
In accordance with legal provisions, the official designation of the capital’s relocation is carried out through a presidential decision, within the President of the Republic of Indonesia’s authority, said Troy Pantouw.
