Detained Moslem leader confesses
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): The detained head of a banned Malaysian
Moslem sect admitted misleading followers during a meeting
yesterday with religious leaders, the national police chief Rahim
Noor said.
The dialog with Ashaari Muhammad will be broadcast on national
television Thursday night, Rahim told a news conference after the
two-and-a-half hour meeting.
"We want to use Ashaari's confession to bring his followers
back from his deviationist teachings," Rahim said.
Without given details of the confession Rahim said "watch
television tonight."
