Details of Kirin Chip in Huawei Mate 90 Revealed
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Huawei is reportedly preparing to release its next smartphone series, the Huawei Mate 90 series, next month, and the latest information now reveals details about the Kirin chip that will be installed in this series.
Reported by Huawei Central on Monday (4/5) local time, the leak regarding this Kirin chip comes from technology leaker SuperDimensional via a post on Weibo.
It is stated that Huawei is working on the next-generation Kirin chip for the Mate 90 series.
The name of this chip is not Kirin 9040 but Kirin 9050. In addition to the name details, this technology leaker also revealed the chip’s configuration.
The Kirin 9050 is said to adopt a CPU architecture with a 1+3+4 design.
The CPU is reportedly to have a speed of 3 GHz. If true, the Kirin 9050 will be the most powerful mobile processor developed in Huawei’s history.
The details of each CPU core are as follows: 1 large core x 3.2-3.4 GHz, 3 medium cores x 2.8 GHz, and 4 small cores x 2.1 GHz+.
The speeds listed on this chip are so important because they explain how quickly the processor executes instructions per second.
The higher the number, the faster the CPU processes data, providing quicker responses and improving performance for running heavy applications.
The 8-core chip design in the Kirin 9050 is believed to set a new benchmark for computing power in Chinese chipset production.
Although it sounds impressive on paper, this chip poses one of the challenges for Huawei because creating the Kirin 9050 core is complex and highly iterative.
It requires more effort in producing this chip compared to other Kirin chip versions.
The company is also believed to increase the transistor density of the chip by up to 40 per cent.
The latest Kirin chip for the Mate 90 is also said to possibly deliver performance similar to chips built with a 3 nm architecture.
Huawei itself has not confirmed or commented on this news. Nevertheless, if everything goes according to plan, the Mate 90 series should appear with the leaked CPU parameters.
