Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri believes that to lead with heart and vision, an understanding of the meaning of a mandate is required. She conveyed this assessment while serving as a speaker at the Top Women Fest 2026 talkshow in Sarinah, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (26/4/2026).

Beginning her presentation, Dyah Roro quoted one of the key points from the book titled Find Your Why by Simon Sinek.

“That is one of the things I learned: that in carrying out a mandate, whatever the mandate may be, we must know the purpose behind it all. We must understand the meaning of the mandate being carried out,” she said.

“And since my time in the DPR until now as deputy minister, I always start my day by reminding myself why I am here,” she continued.

According to Dyah Roro, with the mandate given to her, she is driven to deliver the best.

“And most importantly, I want and have intended within myself that whatever I do must be beneficial for others and have a positive impact on society,” said Dyah Roro.

The member of Commission VII of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period also did not deny that in carrying out the mandate, various challenges and problems arise.

“But when we return to the sense of purpose and sense of why, we become more enthusiastic again. We are more enthusiastic in carrying it out,” said Dyah Roro.

As deputy trade minister, she revealed that the micro, small, and medium enterprise sector contributes significantly to Indonesia’s gross domestic product, around 60%. When detailed, 64% of MSME actors are women.

“So we at the Ministry of Trade are trying to help facilitate business actors so they can find markets according to their desires. Whether it’s the domestic market, we collaborate with e-commerce, modern retail, or foreign markets,” said Dyah Roro.

“And this is one of our pillars at the Ministry of Trade; this year we happened to change the slogan—from MSMEs can export to from local to global. So we can utilise the networks we have in 33 countries, so that marketing can run effectively. Changing the lives of many through programmes like this reminds me that I am here to help them,” she explained.
