Jakarta — Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa directly inspected safety and security aspects for visitors at several leading tourist destinations in Bali ahead of the Lebaran holiday in 2026. In addition to monitoring current conditions, we are also ensuring the readiness of destinations ahead of Lebaran, particularly regarding safety and security for visitors. During this period, an increase in tourist visits is expected, Ni Luh said in a formal statement confirmed in Jakarta on Saturday. During a working visit to Bali on Friday (6 March), Ni Luh said the inspection was conducted to ensure that the tourist destinations are ready to welcome the surge in visitors. Because Eid al-Fitr is expected to be one of the periods with the highest increases in domestic tourist visits across Indonesia’s destinations, including Bali. Several destinations visited include DTW Uluwatu, GWK Cultural Park, Melasti Beach, and Kuta Beach. During the inspection, Ni Luh was accompanied by representatives from the tourism industry and the Badung Regency Tourism Office. They reviewed several critical aspects at each destination, ranging from visitor management, readiness of tourism services, cleanliness, safety, risk management, extreme weather anticipation, to the implementation of the Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) standards. The first destination visited was DTW Uluwatu. There she examined the readiness of infrastructure and supporting facilities for visitors at a destination famous for its limestone cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean. Ni Luh also directly assessed various supporting facilities, such as healthcare facilities, toilets, and the Kecak Dance stage, which is a prominent attraction for visitors. The inspection then continued to GWK Cultural Park. In the area known for the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue icon, the Deputy Minister directly reviewed the visitor management system prepared by the operator, from the ticket counters, command centre, health facilities, to other public facilities. She also had the opportunity to ascend inside the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue up to the highest point. From that location, visitors can enjoy Bali’s panorama from height while also viewing the inner structure of the statue, which is one of Indonesia’s tourism icons. Meanwhile, at Melasti Beach and Kuta Beach, the focus of the inspection was on visitor safety, particularly the readiness of Balawista as a body of lifeguards, the availability of health facilities, and other public facilities. The Head of the Badung Regency Tourism Office has also confirmed that all beaches in the Badung area have lifeguards on duty to safeguard visitors’ safety so that any incidents can be promptly addressed, Ni Luh Puspa said. General Manager of DTW Uluwatu, I Wayan Wijana, said that various preparations have been made to welcome the anticipated 30 to 50 percent rise in visitor numbers. The Lebaran holiday presents an opportunity to increase tourist visits, especially domestic tourists. We hope the number of visitors can reach 5,000 to 6,000 people per day, said Wayan. Operators have ensured readiness of various supporting facilities, including toilets, waste management systems, evacuation routes, gathering points, and crowd flow management. We are also anticipating potential hazards from fallen trees by pruning trees and branches. Since Uluwatu is an open natural area, strong winds are one of the factors to be anticipated, he said. In terms of security and safety, coordination is also ongoing with various parties, including the police, BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency), pecalang (traditional security officers), and customary villages. DTW Uluwatu has also prepared a health post with medical staff and standby ambulances for emergency response.
