Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, Agus Jabo Priyono, emphasised the importance of monitoring and evaluation (monev) to strengthen capacity on a sustainable basis. He assessed that monev needs to be carried out comprehensively, both for teaching staff and educational personnel, so that the teaching and learning process at People’s Schools runs optimally. “The role of foster parents and dormitory guardians is not only administrative, but also nurturing, character building, and social support for students. Therefore, continuous capacity building and strengthening through training, supervision, and periodic evaluation are necessary,” said Agus in his statement on Thursday (9/4/2026). This was conveyed at the Coordinating Meeting of the People’s Schools Operational Control Task Force at the Integrated Centre Inten Soeweno (STIS) in Cibinong, Bogor Regency, today. On that occasion, Agus also highlighted the importance of monitoring and evaluation of educational personnel, including foster parents and dormitory guardians. According to him, their development and strengthening are very necessary because they deal directly with children from diverse backgrounds. Although they all come from poor and extremely poor families, Agus revealed that each child has different experiences and needs. Therefore, the approach given must be adjusted so that the development can run more effectively. With the right approach, Agus hopes that students at People’s Schools can undergo the teaching and learning process optimally and become accomplished and characterful individuals. He also hopes that the mindset of People’s Schools students will become increasingly open and can drive their mindset to free themselves from poverty. In addition to monev regarding the strengthening of educators’ capacity, Agus also highlighted the importance of control after the Eid holiday. He emphasised that foster parents and dormitory guardians should play an active role in recording students returning to school. He stressed that no student should go undetected and be left behind in the learning process. If there are obstacles, such as costs or distance, foster parents and dormitory guardians are asked to report immediately and seek solutions together. “Monev of students after Eid is also important. All schools must record students returning to school. If there are those who have difficulty returning, the problem must be immediately identified and a solution sought so that the children can follow the teaching and learning process well,” he concluded.
