Jakarta — The Deputy Minister of Public Works (Wamen PU), Diana Kusumastuti, has announced that construction of Phase II Community Schools is targeted for completion by the end of June 2026 at the latest.

“Construction of the Community Schools is targeted for completion before the start of the 2026–2027 academic year, or at the latest by the end of June 2026, particularly for locations where contracts have already been executed,” Diana stated to ANTARA in Jakarta on Friday.

Currently, the Ministry of Public Works is undertaking Phase II Community Schools construction at 104 locations spread across 102 regencies and cities in 32 provinces. Field construction implementation shows varying stages of work, adjusted to the conditions of each respective location.

Some locations remain in the foundation work stage, with designs and methods tailored to local soil characteristics, whilst several other locations have advanced to structural work, such as columns, beams, and second-floor slabs.

According to Diana, despite current construction progress on Community Schools reaching only 7.70 per cent, the Ministry of Public Works remains committed to completing the work in accordance with directives from the Public Works Minister and the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

“Meanwhile, for locations not yet under contract, we will accelerate the re-tender process to promptly secure qualified contractors. We are optimistic that all such locations can be completed within fiscal year 2026,” Diana stated.

The Ministry of Public Works, she continued, ensures that all processes proceed in accordance with requirements and good governance principles, so that the Community Schools construction can be implemented with correct quality, timely delivery, appropriate budgeting, genuine benefits, and proper administration.
