Deputy National Police Chief Urges Exodus Travellers to Exercise Caution
Deputy National Police Chief Dedi Prasetyo has reiterated warnings for exodus travellers to remain vigilant and cautious, emphasising the importance of resting when fatigued rather than pushing through exhaustion.
Speaking to the press at a rest area at kilometre 57 on the Cikampek Toll Road in Karawang on Saturday, Dedi reported that through the second day of the 2026 Lebaran exodus, traffic accidents have declined by 92 per cent compared to the same period last year.
The improvement extends to fatal accidents, which have decreased by 100 per cent. Whilst 26 deaths were recorded during the equivalent period of last year’s Lebaran exodus, there have been zero fatalities recorded so far this year.
Vehicle volume on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road during the first day of the 2026 Lebaran exodus reached 75,000 units, representing a 15 per cent increase compared to the first day of the 2025 exodus, which saw approximately 66,000 vehicles. Despite this increase in traffic volume, Dedi confirmed that overall traffic flow remained smooth and well-monitored.
