Deputy Minister of Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Praises National Police Chief for Bringing Together NGOs and Students for Iftar Gathering: A Concrete Display of Unity
Deputy Minister of Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection (P2MI), Dzulfikar Ahmad Tawalla, attended an iftar gathering hosted by the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. He expressed his appreciation for General Sigit’s ability to unite various elements, from NGOs and youth organisations to student organisations and civil society.
“It was extraordinary; all components were gathered, including formal and informal youth organisations, all brought together by the National Police Chief,” said Dzulfikar after the event at the Mutiara Auditorium, STIK/PTIK Polri, South Jakarta, Thursday (26/2/2026).
The Chairman of the Central Executive Board of Pemuda Muhammadiyah, viewed this annual event not merely as an iftar ceremony but as a strategic moment to unite various national components in a warm and engaging forum. This also aims to realise President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision.
“This creates a concrete sense of unity, which is truly remarkable, and we hope that such synergy will continue to be strengthened in the future,” said Dzulfikar.
He hopes that the synergy that has been built can continue to be improved in the future as a social capital for the nation.
On the same occasion, General Sigit emphasised that fostering unity is key to facing the current uncertain global situation. Therefore, he invited the public, especially students, to work together to maintain unity.
“We know that the current global situation is not good. This means that we must continue to prepare ourselves to face the implications of global impacts, and of course, we need unity,” said General Sigit.
However, General Sigit also assured that the National Police is not anti-criticism. He guaranteed that the democratic space for students and youth to voice their opinions remains open.
“The National Police has an obligation to provide good service. The National Police is also ready to be evaluated and criticised so that it can fulfil its mandate and become a civilian police that is close to and loved by the community,” General Sigit affirmed.
To the youth and students, General Sigit asked them to continue monitoring the performance of the National Police from the central to the regional levels.
“Therefore, I ask that this institution be continuously maintained so that together we can protect, guide, and realise our nation’s grand vision of achieving national goals towards a Golden Indonesia 2045,” he concluded.
