Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Asks for Completion of Tuberculosis-Ready Villages in Bogor by Mid-2026
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Akhmad Wiyagus, representing the Minister of Home Affairs, has requested the Bogor Regency Government to expedite the establishment of Tuberculosis-Ready Villages. He expressed hope that the establishment of these villages in Bogor Regency can be completed by the first semester of 2026, considering that the number of tuberculosis cases in Bogor Regency is among the highest nationally.
Wiyagus explained that tuberculosis treatment cannot be delayed due to the rapid spread of the disease. He also highlighted that the progress of Tuberculosis-Ready Villages in Bogor is still below 50%. This achievement needs to be evaluated by the Bogor Regency Government to improve the establishment of Tuberculosis-Ready Villages. He stated this during the Meeting on Strengthening Commitment and Real Action in Efforts to Accelerate Tuberculosis Elimination at the Serbaguna I Building of the Bogor Regency Government, today.
“This is our common task, Mr. Regional Secretary, and Mr. Sub-district Head, and the village heads who haven’t started yet. This will be a separate evaluation,” said Wiyagus in a written statement, Thursday (February 26, 2026).
Wiyagus revealed that Indonesia is currently in second place globally for tuberculosis cases after India. Therefore, as the supervisor of regional governance, the Ministry of Home Affairs continues to encourage basic healthcare services to be a benchmark for the success of regional leaders.
“I will also conduct a direct evaluation in the field later regarding these Tuberculosis-Ready Villages, both those that already exist and the progress of villages that do not yet have Tuberculosis-Ready Villages,” said Wiyagus.
According to him, cross-sectoral collaboration is key to ensuring maximum tuberculosis control. Therefore, the Ministry of Home Affairs will continue to encourage good governance, especially in regional planning and budgeting, to be carried out optimally to support health programs.
Furthermore, Wiyagus encourages all parties to correct misunderstandings regarding the negative stigma towards tuberculosis sufferers. He emphasized that tuberculosis is a curable disease through proper treatment.
“Efforts to handle tuberculosis in Bogor Regency can continue to be accelerated so that it contributes to reducing the number of tuberculosis cases nationally,” he concluded.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy Minister of Health Benjamin Paulus Octavianus, Senior Expert of the Presidential Staff Office Zahera Mega Utama, Middle Expert of the Presidential Staff Office Adele Hutapea, and other related parties.
