Deputy Minister of Creative Economy says Alif Raya Market strengthens Indonesian Muslim fashion brands
Jakarta, (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar said Alif Raya Market is an important stage for local modest fashion brands to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a world leader and trendsetter in Muslim fashion.
‘Local brands need a platform. Through events like this, the public can see firsthand the quality of Indonesian creative products. This is proof that our local brands are ready to compete, not only in the national market but also at the global level,’ Irene said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.
She conveyed this while attending the opening of Alif Raya Market 2026 at Pasaraya Blok M, South Jakarta, on Thursday (5/3) as a form of government support for strengthening the creative economy ecosystem, particularly the modest fashion sub-sector that continues to grow in Indonesia.
Alif Raya Market 2026 brings together various local Muslim fashion brands, lifestyle products, UMKM players, and creative communities in one collaborative space that blends product exhibitions, talk shows, art performances, and Ramadhan social activities.
According to her, strengthening the fashion sub-sector is an important part of the strategy for developing the creative economy as the new engine of growth, through collaboration among the government, industry players, creative communities, and the public.
Meanwhile, Romi Astuti, Director of Fashion at the Ministry of Creative Economy, stated Indonesia has great potential to become the world’s centre for modest fashion.
‘We have very large potential. Based on the State of the Global Islamic Economy report, Indonesian modest fashion ranks first globally. It means our potential is already very strong,’ Romi said.
According to him, various Muslim fashion events that continue to develop become an important part of strengthening the national creative ecosystem.
‘We do not need to force the public to use local products. The quality of our local brands is already very good. Just give one chance to try local products, and people will see the quality for themselves, and pride in local brands will grow on its own,’ Romi explained.
Founder of Alif Raya Market Muhammad Triangga explained that the event was initiated by a desire to provide a creative space for the Muslim community that is more modern and relevant to the lifestyle of younger generations.
‘We want to present a Muslim event that still reflects religious identity but is also modern and close to the lifestyle of young people. So friends can still look stylish without abandoning the values they uphold,’ Triangga said.
He also assessed that the momentum of revival of local brands is getting stronger as support from various parties increases.
‘Now is the time for local brands. Support from the government, the community, and the public makes local brands grow further. Events like this provide a space for creative players to demonstrate product quality while strengthening pride in local brands,’ he added.
Alif Raya Market 2026 runs from 5–8 March 2026 at Pasaraya Blok M, Jakarta Selatan, featuring exhibitions of local brands, lifestyle products, art exhibitions, inspirational talks, and various Ramadhan social activities involving the creative community and the public.
