Deputy Minister of Creative Economy: Creative Economy Provides Space for Women to Develop
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar stated that the creative economy serves as a strategic space increasingly open to women, promoting inclusive national development, especially amid accelerating digital transformation. “The creative economy opens up vast opportunities without regard to background. With technological support, women can create from anywhere and become part of the economic drivers. This is an inclusive space that allows anyone to contribute,” said Irene Umar in a press statement received on Thursday. During the national dialogue and workshop themed “The Role of Women’s Leadership in Developing National Independence and Resilience” at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (8/4), the Ministry of Creative Economy views the strengthening of women’s leadership, particularly through the creative economy sector, as a concrete step in expanding societal participation while reinforcing the foundations of inclusive and sustainable national development. She emphasised the importance of women’s leadership in bolstering national resilience, as well as the courage to start and grow. “The creative economy is the new engine of growth that provides ample space for women to develop. The key is the courage to start and self-confidence,” she added. “Women must be part of the development process. Affirmative policies are needed to ensure women’s involvement in economic strategies and decision-making,” said Veronica Tan. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of cross-sector synergies to deliver programmes that directly impact the strengthening of families, local economies, and community-based food security. Collaboration across ministries and institutions in this forum reinforces more integrated policy directions and encourages the implementation of programmes with direct societal impact.
