Deputy Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Fajar Riza Ul Haq inspected two junior secondary schools in Tabanan Regency, Bali, on Thursday (4/6/2026). The two schools visited were SMP Muhammadiyah Tabanan and SMP Negeri 6 Tabanan.

The visit was conducted to ensure that several priority programmes of President Prabowo Subianto are running well. The programmes reviewed included school revitalisation involving classroom rehabilitation and toilet construction, as well as the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.

‘I was given the opportunity to inaugurate the school revitalisation programme at SMP Muhammadiyah and SMPN 6 Tabanan. We want to ensure the quality of the government’s programme implementation so that the benefits can be felt by students,’ explained Fajar Riza Ul-Haq on Thursday.

At SMPN 6 Tabanan, five classrooms for Year IX students were rehabilitated. In addition, three toilet units were built, consisting of facilities for boys, girls, and persons with disabilities. The total budget disbursed for the programme reached more than Rp 2 billion.

Besides inspecting school facilities, Fajar also checked the implementation of the MBG programme. According to him, the government wants to ensure that students receive food that is healthy, nutritious, and safe for consumption.

‘We want to ensure students consume food that is safe and healthy,’ he asserted.

He noted that one of the central government’s methods to improve the educational ecosystem is through enhancing educational infrastructure. The aim is to create better conditions and ensure students receive guaranteed nutritional intake.

In addition to reviewing the two programmes, Fajar also checked the professional teacher allowance of Rp 2 million per month for non-civil servant (non-ASN) teachers. This programme has been running for one year.

‘In Bali, particularly in Tabanan, I want to confirm whether it has been implemented. Earlier I checked at a private school and it is running,’ he concluded.
