Deputy Minister Christina Aryani Sends Off 29 Indonesian Migrant Nurses to Germany
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister for Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (Wamen P2MI) Christina Aryani saw off the departure of 29 Indonesian migrant nurses to Germany on Thursday. The departure of migrant workers under the Triple Win programme, the Government-to-Government (G to G) scheme, was the largest in a single batch and a milestone because not all applicants in the Germany G to G programme passed the selection and reached the placement stage. “This departure is not the end of the struggle, but the start of a great journey toward a better future. Departing is not only about working, but also about learning, gaining experience, improving competencies, and building professional networks,” Christina said in a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday. Christina outlined that Indonesian migrant nurses will be placed in a number of health facilities in Germany. Thirteen workers will be placed at Klinikum Wolfsburg, six at Seniorentzentrum Sonnhalden Neuenburg, nine at Haus Maihalden Pforzheim, and one at Seniorenwohnen Neu-Ulm Ludwigsfeld. “We appreciate the role of educational institutions that have strengthened the curriculum with German language learning, thereby accelerating the placement process and minimising the risk of departure failure,” she said. Christina also urged the 29 Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) to maintain professionalism, manage their finances wisely, and uphold Indonesia’s name while working in Germany. “Indonesia is proud. Be professional nurses who not only work but also build the future,” she added. Furthermore, Christina said that the Ministry of P2MI is pushing for an extended global skill partnership approach through harmonisation of curricula and strengthening the German language from education onwards. Four Health Polytechnics under the Ministry of Health — Jakarta III, Bandung, Semarang, and Medan — will be pilot projects for the programme. “Our hope is that the draft memorandum of understanding can be agreed in the near future,” she said.
