Deputy Mayor: Depok's Lebaran Reflects Harmony and Togetherness

“Lebaran Depok is a part of cultural representation that must continue to be preserved,” said Chandra Rahmansyah when opening the Lebaran Depok 2026 event in Pondok Jaya, Cipayung, Depok City, West Java, on Tuesday. The opening of the Lebaran Depok event, held from 5-9 May 2026, was marked by the Ngubek Empang activity attended by local residents. Chandra symbolically scattered fish into the pond to liven up the Ngubek Empang event. In addition to fish, the organising committee also released ducks, which would later be hunted by the residents. The committee also provided a bonus to residents who successfully caught a golden-coloured fish, which could be exchanged for Rp50,000 in cash. Chandra said the event was attended by various segments of society who joined in enlivening various distinctive traditions, such as ngubek empang, ngaduk dodol, numbuk uli, and making traditional clothing. “This reflects Depok as a happy city, because everyone gathers here. I convey greetings of respect, enthusiasm, and affection to all Depok City residents. Depok is our shared city,” he said. Chandra hopes that preserving culture through Lebaran Depok can further strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and enhance the sense of care among residents. For that reason, he said, we want to ensure that no resident is left behind in development. Everyone must feel the results and progress of Depok City, and become part of the development process itself.
