Deputy Manpower Minister: Digital Technician Competencies Strengthen "Skill-Based Economy"
Many technicians are now working independently across various digital industry sectors, thereby creating new job opportunities and strengthening the skill-based economy.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) Afriansyah Noor believes that competencies in the field of digital device technicians have great potential to broaden employment opportunities and strengthen the skill-based economy.
“Many technicians are now working independently in various digital industry sectors, thus contributing to opening new job opportunities and strengthening the skill-based economy,” said Afriansyah in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Furthermore, the Deputy Minister stated that a skill-based economy, especially in the digital sector, is important for workers to master, particularly young workers entering the labour force.
Therefore, he reminded of the importance of enhancing skills (upskilling and reskilling) amid very rapid technological developments.
Meanwhile, the government through the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is supporting the development of digital skills, one of which is through the Association of Network Device Technicians (ATPJ) CPU iPhone 2026 Competition in Jambi last weekend.
The Deputy Minister assessed that digital device technician competitions are not merely arenas for competing skills, but also means to expand employment opportunities in the digital device repair sector.
He said that the ATPJ community plays an important role as a government partner in reaching technician talents who have not been touched by formal training systems.
“This activity is not just a competition, but part of joint efforts to address the nation’s strategic challenges. The current development focus is to strengthen human resources, create quality jobs, and promote downstreaming and industrialisation,” he said.
Deputy Minister Ferry assessed that competitions like this also serve as important means to encourage the standardisation of technician skills through direct practice, benchmarking abilities, and strengthening professionalism in the field of digital device technicians.
He also expressed appreciation to ATPJ and all partners who have contributed to the development of Indonesia’s human resources.
