Jakarta — Deputy Labour Minister (Wamenaker) Afriansyah Noor is advocating for strategic cooperation between the labour sector and law enforcement.

Speaking in Jakarta on Wednesday, the Deputy Labour Minister stated that strengthening synergy between the Ministry of Labour (Kemnaker) and law enforcement institutions such as the Attorney General’s Office is essential to ensure that policies with legal dimensions also deliver tangible social benefits.

Inter-agency coordination at both central and regional levels needs to be reinforced to make implementation more focused, measurable, and impactful for the public.

“Implementation of community service naturally requires a concrete institution such as the Grand Vocational Training and Productivity Centre under Kemnaker,” said the Deputy Labour Minister.

“For this reason, cooperation must be established on how offenders can serve their sentences whilst receiving job training beneficial to them, ultimately also benefiting society,” he added.

Ferry, as he is commonly known, stated that this approach is important so that law enforcement does not merely emphasise punishment but also promotes development that equips individuals with skills.

“In this way, the benefits are felt not only by those undergoing the process, but also by society through the creation of a more productive social environment,” said Deputy Labour Minister Ferry.

Recently, Kemnaker held a dialogue with the Attorney General’s Office of North Sumatra (Kejati) to discuss this strategic synergy.

The meeting highlighted the importance of cross-institutional collaboration so that community service implementation not only forms part of the legal process but also delivers broader social benefits through job training.

Head of the Attorney General’s Office of North Sumatra Harli Siregar welcomed the meeting and viewed the initiative as an important part of strengthening cross-institutional coordination.

“Going forward, synergy between Kemnaker and Kejati North Sumatra is expected to become stronger and capable of producing more concrete cooperation, so that community service implementation can become part of development that imparts skills, strengthens utility, and delivers positive impact for society,” said Harli.
