Jakarta - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno remains unaffected by international flight disruptions caused by United States-Israel attacks on Iran.

Beno, Special Staff to the Jakarta Governor for Public Welfare, has confirmed that Rano Karno’s scheduled return to Indonesia remains unchanged, occurring on Tuesday, 3 March 2026, following his umrah pilgrimage which began on 23 February 2026.

“God willing, we remain on schedule. Our plan is to return tomorrow,” Beno stated when contacted on Monday, 2 March 2026.

“The situation remains fluid. So far, the aircraft being cancelled are those with transit connections. Fortunately, our aircraft operates on a direct route without transit. God willing,” Beno added.

The Middle East conflict has resulted in airspace closures across several countries in the region. As a result, numerous international flights have been disrupted and many pilgrims have been stranded at transit airports including Doha, Dubai, and Bahrain.

Major airlines have rapidly cancelled, suspended, or rerouted flights in response to the rapidly developing security situation in the region.

Emirates reported several flights disrupted due to airspace closures in the United Arab Emirates, with passengers advised to check flight status as cancellations have occurred.

Etihad Airways stated that “several flights have been cancelled and others are experiencing delays.”

Flydubai reported flights have been “rerouted, returned to parking, or cancelled” following airspace restrictions imposed in Dubai.

Qatar Airways has temporarily suspended operations due to airspace closures at Doha, which has served as the primary transit hub for pilgrims from Asia, Europe, and Africa.
