Deputy Interior Minister Bima Reminds IPDN First-Year Cadets to Maintain Consistency in Service Performance in Aceh Tamiang
Deputy Interior Minister (Wamendagri) Bima Arya Sugiarto reminded first-year cadets from the Institute of Domestic Government (IPDN), participating in the third wave of field work practice in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, to maintain consistent performance. He stressed that this wave has the potential to be the final assignment, thus requiring the cadets to end their service in Aceh Tamiang positively without leaving any negative notes.
This reminder was delivered during his role as the reviewing officer at the welcoming assembly for the First-Year Cadet Unit in Aceh Tamiang on Wednesday (1/4/2026). In his address, Bima also recalled the conditions in Aceh Tamiang three months earlier, which were in a difficult situation with limited basic facilities and halted government activities.
“Three months ago, this place was truly paralysed. The atmosphere was far different from when your seniors entered this place. The atmosphere was tense, there was no lighting, no water, all activities were paralysed,” he said.
According to him, the previously assigned cadets faced far-from-ideal conditions. However, over the past three months, the situation has gradually recovered thanks to the hard work of the cadets together with the local government (Pemda) and elements of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda). Currently, government activities have resumed, and public services are starting to normalise.
Nevertheless, Bima reminded that the challenges faced by the cadets are not necessarily lighter, but have a different character. “Do not misread the field situation, never take it lightly,” he emphasised.
He explained that if previously the cadets played a role in recovering government functions, at this stage the assignment demands more direct involvement in the midst of society.
In addition, he stressed the importance of upholding the good name of the institution and utilising the assignment period as a learning space. “Please always uphold the good name of our proud institution, IPDN and the Ministry of Home Affairs,” he urged.
Finally, he reminded that the success of service is not only determined by the ability to start well, but also by the ability to complete tasks well. “Races are often determined not by how we start, but by how we close and finish,” he asserted.
Before the welcoming assembly, Bima also directly inspected the operational points in Bahagia Hamlet and Amalia Hamlet, which will be the cadets’ assignment locations. At those sites, the cadets will focus on cleaning mud in residents’ homes, drainage, and village roads as part of efforts to accelerate environmental recovery post-disaster.
