Deputy Health Minister: 121 Gambir Station Staff Meet Health Standards to Serve Mudik Travellers
Jakarta – Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono has stated that 121 staff members of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) at Gambir Station in Central Jakarta have met health standards to serve passengers during the 2026 Lebaran exodus period.
A total of 277 staff members have undergone health screening at Gambir station, including train drivers, flight attendants, technical mechanics, and other personnel. Of the 277 screened, 121 have been cleared as fit and healthy, whilst 133 require ongoing monitoring, according to Deputy Health Minister Dante during a visit to the health service post at Gambir Station on Tuesday.
The Deputy Health Minister added that 19 staff members have been deemed unfit to work due to health factors, whilst four other staff members are still awaiting screening results.
“Passengers can check blood sugar and blood pressure whilst waiting for departure to ensure their health before travelling, so the journey is safer and more comfortable,” said the Deputy Health Minister.
The Ministry of Health has established health service posts during both the outbound and return Lebaran 2026 periods, offering medications for various conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure).
To date, Tuesday 17 March, the Deputy Health Minister noted that approximately 680,000 travellers departing from Jakarta have been served by PT KAI, with 63,000 of these departing from Gambir Station alone.
“PT KAI is serving around 680,000 people, with Gambir Station alone serving 63,000. Imagine if someone were to become ill and face complications – it would certainly create a problem,” said Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono.
