Deputy Head of BGN Asks Public to Monitor Kitchen Waste from SPPG
The Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Irjen Sony Sonjaya, has asked the public to monitor kitchen waste from the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG). He hopes that the managers of the SPPG do not cause environmental issues.
“It is very important for the SPPG to carry out waste management and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the implementation of the Nutritious Meal Program (MBG),” he said in Purwakarta, Thursday (26/2).
He said that there are currently 140 SPPGs operating in Purwakarta. He hopes that their presence will benefit the community, not create environmental problems.
“The presence of the SPPG should not cause environmental issues. There should be no wastewater that comes out in a colored and smelly condition into the ditches or drains,” he said, while giving directions to the managers of 140 SPPGs in Purwakarta.
Sonny asked the public to participate in monitoring. If it is found that the residue from the MBG production pollutes the environment, the public is asked to immediately remind and report it so that the Health Office can check the function of the Wastewater Treatment Installation (IPAL).
“The IPAL must really function. It should not just be there physically, but not work properly,” he said.
Regarding the cases of poisoning or health problems due to the consumption of MBG, Sony emphasized that this was almost certainly caused by violations of SOPs.
“The food received must be checked, whether it is fit for consumption or not, fresh or not. If it is not checked and given directly, it means that the SOP is violated,” he said.
He reminded all SPPG managers to be disciplined in carrying out SOPs in order to prevent unwanted incidents.
“If the SOP is carried out properly, God willing, there will be no poisoning incidents,” he said.
The police will work hard to uncover the case. The steps to investigate the case will be carried out transparently and professionally.
