Deputy Hajj Minister Finalises 2026 Hajj Logistics, Anticipating Fuel Price Hike Due to Middle East Conflict
JAKARTA - Plans for the Hajj pilgrimage in 1447 Hijriah, or 2026, are being finalised, including aviation security and food logistics availability for pilgrims. Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, held a bilateral meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Abdulfattah bin Sulaiman Mashat, discussing the possibility of rising fuel costs. “The increase in fuel prices needs to be a joint concern, so that both countries can anticipate it to keep flight services optimal,” stated Abdulfattah in an official statement on Monday (30/3/2026). However, he emphasised the importance of anticipating global dynamics, particularly related to energy. In response, Dahnil affirmed that the Indonesian government will take mitigation steps to maintain service quality, both in terms of transportation and consumption. “President Prabowo Subianto’s attention remains focused on the safety of Hajj pilgrims with two main aspects, namely aviation security and food logistics readiness,” explained Dahnil. He urged that food provider kitchens have raw material reserves for up to three months, including ready-to-eat meals for various emergency conditions. “The provision of raw materials is expected to ensure the comfort and consumption needs of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims while performing worship in the Holy Land,” he said.
