Deputy Governor of South Sulawesi Appreciates PPA Community for Consistent Mentoring of Orphaned Children
The people of South Sulawesi possess strong solidarity and empathy as social capital for building the future of children.
Makassar – South Sulawesi’s Deputy Governor Fatmawati Rusdi has expressed appreciation for the Pola Pertolongan Allah (PPA) Community and Abulyatama Indonesia Foundation, which continue to consistently provide mentorship and hope for orphaned children in the region.
Fatmawati stated in Makassar on Saturday that the community is optimistically targeting to reach 5,000 orphaned children this year through roadshows across 24 districts and cities in South Sulawesi.
“This year the target is 5,000 orphaned children who will be cared for. This is a remarkable step and will reach all districts and cities in South Sulawesi,” she said after being inaugurated as the Mother of Orphans of South Sulawesi.
Fatmawati stressed that the South Sulawesi Provincial Government is ready to open wider collaboration opportunities in efforts to mentor and protect orphaned children as part of the nation’s future generation.
“We are ready to contribute, ready to join hands, because we know our children are the future of the nation. The people of South Sulawesi have high solidarity, have empathy, and support one another,” she said.
She explained that the government continues to strengthen the education sector as part of efforts to improve the quality of the younger generation.
One such initiative is the Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School) programme, which is a priority of the central government. South Sulawesi already has seven People’s Schools as part of efforts to expand access to inclusive education.
“Every month I hold focus group discussions at the official residence to find the best ways to provide equal access to education and proper protection for our generation,” she explained.
She offered words of encouragement to orphaned children to continue having hope and enthusiasm in pursuing their futures.
“Keep dreaming, dreams are free. Keep learning, keep loving the Quran, because you are the light for South Sulawesi,” she said.
Ustadz Muhlis Katili, a trainer at the PPA Institute, noted that the Deputy Governor’s presence and direct support have given new spirit to orphaned children to rise and pursue better futures.
