Jayapura (ANTARA) - Papua’s Deputy Governor, Aryoko Rumaropen, has asked prospective Hajj pilgrims from Papua to join in praying for the region’s progress while carrying out their worship in the holy land.

“Not everyone gets the opportunity to be a guest of Allah. This is a noble calling, so it must be appreciated and carried out with full sincerity,” he said after the send-off of prospective Hajj pilgrims for 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE in Jayapura on Saturday.

According to Aryoko, the Hajj pilgrimage is not merely a physical journey but also a spiritual one that will shape a more patient, sincere, and pious personality.

“Therefore, the pilgrims are reminded to maintain their intentions and focus on carrying out the entire series of worship,” he stated.

“We also advise showing disciplined, orderly behaviour and mutual respect. Demonstrate gentle manners, and uphold Papua’s good name in the eyes of the world,” he added.

The Head of the Papua Hajj and Umrah Regional Office, Musa Narwawan, said that 840 prospective Hajj pilgrims from the province are ready to depart for Mecca.

Based on data, Papua Province has been allocated a quota of 933 Hajj pilgrims this year. Of that number, 840 prospective pilgrims are declared ready to depart, plus around 50 pilgrims from outside Papua.

According to Musa, Papua’s prospective pilgrims are grouped in Flight Clusters (Kloter) 29, 30, and 31 via Makassar Embarkation.

“The schedule for Kloter 29 entering the Hajj dormitory is on 9 May 2026, Kloter 30 on 11 May 2026, and Kloter 31 on 12 May 2026. All administrative processes and document completeness for the pilgrims have been reported as 100 percent complete,” he said.

He explained that this year’s Hajj organisation is focused on improving integrated, professional services oriented towards the comfort and safety of the pilgrims.

“We hope that all prospective pilgrims can perform their worship smoothly and return to the homeland with the title of accepted Hajj (haji mabrur),” he said.
