Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus, inspected the progress of the construction of 106 buildings, consisting of 104 permanent houses, one mosque, and one community hall for flood victims in Kuala Cangkoy Village, North Aceh Regency, Aceh Province, on Wednesday (25/2).

This inspection was carried out to ensure that the buildings are of good quality so that they can be used by disaster victims.

“We are working to ensure that people affected by this disaster can return to a normal life. Not only are they provided with permanent housing, but also how their lives as fishermen can return to normal,” said Lodewijk while at the construction site, as quoted from the official press release of the Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs received in Jakarta, Thursday.

Lodewijk explained that the construction of these 106 buildings was realised through collaboration between the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces), Polri (Indonesian National Police) and the local government.

During the visit, Lodewijk appreciated the Regent of North Aceh, the Danrem 011/Lilwangsa (Commander of the 011/Lilwangsa Military Resort) and the Forkopimda (Regional Leadership Coordination Forum) of North Aceh, as well as other parties involved, for their support in making the program a success.

This inter-agency collaboration, Lodewijk continued, proves that the state works together to help ease the burden on people affected by disasters.

“The state is not only present during the emergency response, but also ensures the sustainability of recovery so that people can truly return to living with dignity and productively,” explained Lodewijk.

After inspecting the entire construction process, Lodewijk ensured that all buildings, from permanent housing to places of worship, were in good condition.

He hopes that all the buildings can be completed as soon as possible so that they can be immediately used by the residents who are disaster victims.
