Deputy Chair of DPR Commission VIII Praises Ministry of Religious Affairs for Timely Teacher Professional Allowance Disbursement Ahead of Eid
JAKARTA – Abidin Fikri, Deputy Chair of DPR Commission VIII, has commended the swift action of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) in successfully disbursing Teacher Professional Allowances (TPG) to madrasah educators ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri.
This measure responds to the insistence of DPR Commission VIII that the welfare rights of madrasah educators be fulfilled promptly, preventing social unrest during the Eid period.
Abidin stated that the TPG disbursement demonstrates the government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of approximately 405,438 madrasah teachers through accelerated Simpatika data verification.
“Timely payment before Eid al-Fitr demonstrates the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ responsiveness to the aspirations of DPR and madrasah educators who have long depended on low honorariums,” said the legislator from the PDI Struggle faction.
According to Abidin, this success not only alleviates the financial burden of educators during the festive season but also strengthens public confidence in the management of state budget allocations within the religious education sector.
He urged the Ministry of Religious Affairs to maintain this momentum for subsequent disbursement phases, in line with DPR Commission VIII’s oversight.
Abidin further explained that the Teacher Professional Allowance programme at the Ministry of Religious Affairs for 2026 is not limited to madrasah and Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, but also extends to Christian, Catholic, Hindu, and Buddhist religious education teachers.
For PAI teachers, 209,324 individuals are recorded as TPG recipients, including 91,028 PAI teachers and supervisors who completed Teacher Professional Education (PPG) in 2025.
For Christian Religious Education teachers, 5,606 non-civil servant teachers and 9,893 teachers who graduated from the 2025 PPG programme also receive TPG.
For Catholic Religious Education teachers, there are 12,400 TPG recipients comprising 8,568 civil servant teachers and 3,832 non-civil servant teachers, including 5,972 teachers who graduated from the 2025 PPG programme.
“DPR Commission VIII will continue to conduct rigorous oversight of the implementation of TPG disbursement to religious education and madrasah teachers by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, to ensure that payments are made promptly, particularly ahead of Eid al-Fitr,” he stated.
