Commission II of the West Java Provincial DPRD directly reviewed the progress of cooperatives and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) supported in Depok City. This visit was conducted to ensure the effectiveness of the people’s economic empowerment programme rolled out by the West Java Provincial Government.

Deputy Chair of Commission II of the West Java DPRD, Lina Ruslinawati, stressed the importance of technological adaptation for cooperatives and micro-business actors to survive and grow amid increasingly dynamic market competition.

According to Lina, cooperatives should no longer function merely as conventional business entities. Beyond that, cooperatives must transform into modern investment partnership institutions that are adaptive to the times.

“We want to ensure that the supported cooperatives and micro-enterprises in Depok City receive targeted mentoring,” said Lina during the working visit to the Depok City Cooperatives and Micro-Enterprise Office (DKUM) on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

She added that Depok City has great potential, with significant MSME contributions to the Regional Gross Domestic Product (PDRB). Therefore, synergy between provincial policies and implementation at the city level must run in harmony.

During the visit, Commission II conducted monitoring while gathering data and information related to the development of cooperatives and MSMEs supported by the West Java Provincial Government in the Depok area.

The Depok City DKUM presented several achievements, including progress in the New Entrepreneur Programme (WUB) and the development of women entrepreneurs, which continue to be encouraged to achieve economic independence. In addition, data on employment absorption and increased turnover for supported businesses also drew legislative attention.

Not only that, various field challenges were also discussed, such as expanding market access and improving product quality through the Packaging House programme currently being developed by the Depok City Government.

Lina stated that the results of this visit will serve as evaluation material for the West Java DPRD in formulating future budget policies and regulations.

“Commission II is committed to continuing to promote innovative programmes that can strengthen the competitiveness of cooperatives and MSMEs throughout West Java, especially in Depok City as one of the supports for the creative economy of the capital,” she said.
