Depok Municipal Government Strengthens Food Price Monitoring During Ramadan
The Head of Depok’s Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries Agency (DKP3), Dadan Rustandi, said on Sunday that his office routinely monitors staple food prices in collaboration with several related agencies to prevent excessive price surges.
“Together with the National Food Agency (Bapanas), the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Depok Police and the Trade and Industry Agency (Disdagin), we routinely conduct monitoring at traditional markets and modern retailers,” he said.
The monitoring is carried out to ensure prices comply with the Maximum Retail Price (HET) and Reference Selling Price (HAP) during Ramadan and in the lead-up to Eid al-Fitr.
Minyakita subsidised cooking oil remains stable at Rp15,700 per litre, but red cayenne pepper has reached Rp120,000 per kilogramme, making it one of the commodities with the steepest price increases.
According to Dadan, rising demand ahead of Eid al-Fitr is one of the factors influencing price dynamics in the market.
To address this, the Depok municipal government has been conducting daily monitoring since 14 January to ensure there are no unjustified price spikes or hoarding practices.
Through cross-agency coordination and sustained oversight, the Depok municipal government is optimistic that public food needs ahead of Eid al-Fitr will continue to be met at relatively stable prices.
