The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) has once again deployed cadets from the Institute of Domestic Governance (IPDN) to accelerate post-disaster recovery in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh. They are part of the third wave of IPDN task force assignments, consisting of 731 first-level cadets and 37 civil servants (ASN) from Kemendagri.

Interior Minister (Mendagri) and Head of the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Post-Sumatra Disaster, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, directly led the Opening Ceremony for the Third Wave of the IPDN Post-Disaster Recovery Task Force in Aceh Tamiang. The ceremony took place in the courtyard of the Benua Raja Palace, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, on Saturday (4/4/2026).

In his remarks, the Interior Minister explained that the first wave of cadet deployments primarily focused on cleaning office areas. The second wave expanded the scope to community environments. The third wave is concentrated on handling locations still heavily impacted, particularly due to mud deposits. This includes cleaning in residential settlements, including the environment around the Benua Raja Palace, which is a historic site.

“The main target is to resolve issues in points still affected by mud, some of which has already hardened,” he clarified.

According to the Interior Minister, Aceh Tamiang is one of the areas severely impacted by the disaster, especially due to flooding that left mud deposits up to several metres high. Therefore, this condition requires serious and sustained handling.

He added that the implementation of the third wave tasks is planned to last one month, targeting several affected hamlets. “If it can be done faster, they will be shifted to other places that need assistance,” he stated.

The Interior Minister advised the cadets to emulate the success of the previous two waves by working hard, sincerely, and maintaining health and discipline during their duties. “Take care of your own health, and do not commit any violations,” he stressed.

To support fieldwork, Kemendagri has prepared various equipment, from manual tools like hoes and shovels to heavy machinery and dump trucks. The Interior Minister also expressed appreciation to the Mayor of Medan and the Regent of Deli Serdang for their assistance in providing facilities and infrastructure.
