Denmark's Queen Margrethe II Undergoes Heart Angioplasty
Breaking news comes from the Kingdom of Denmark. Former Queen Margrethe II has reportedly undergone a heart angioplasty procedure after experiencing sudden health problems. This procedure was performed to address narrowing or blockage of the heart’s blood vessels.
According to information gathered, the beloved monarch was rushed to Rigshospitalet, the main hospital in Copenhagen, to receive specialist treatment. This medical step was taken after the royal medical team evaluated the physical condition of the 86-year-old queen.
The Danish Royal Palace, in its official statement, stated that the procedure went smoothly. However, the queen still needs time for complete rest for the post-operative recovery process.
Angioplasty is a non-surgical medical procedure that uses a small balloon to open blocked coronary arteries. Although it is considered a routine procedure in the world of cardiology, the advanced age of Queen Margrethe II prompted the medical team to carry out extra strict monitoring.
“Her condition is currently stable and she is under observation by a team of expert cardiologists. We ask for prayers from all people so that the recovery process goes quickly,” the official statement from the palace said.
Since abdicating in early 2024 and handing over leadership to her son, King Frederik X, Margrethe II has reportedly experienced several health problems, including a rather serious back surgery. Although she is no longer serving as head of state, her activities are still often monitored by the international public.
King Frederik X and other members of the royal family reportedly visited the queen at the hospital. The royal’s official agenda for the next few days is likely to be adjusted as the family focuses on the health recovery of Queen Margrethe II.
As of this report, Danish citizens have begun to gather around the palace area and send messages of support via social media, hoping that the “Mother of the Nation” can recover soon and return to her activities. (H-2)
