Democrat Party Agrees with Postponement, Says Import of Pick-up Trucks from India Was Never Discussed in DPR
The Secretary-General of the Democrat Party and member of Commission VI of the DPR, Herman Khaeron, agrees with the postponement of the plan to import pick-up trucks from India for the operational activities of the Merah Putih Cooperative. Herman said that the procurement of these vehicles was never discussed in detail in the DPR.
Herman explained that Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, as a partner of Commission VI, had previously presented the budget allocation for each village, amounting to IDR 3 billion. The details were IDR 1.6 billion for building construction, IDR 500 million for working capital, and the remainder for infrastructure, including transportation.
“(Agrinas) never mentioned what type of transportation or its specifications,” said Herman at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (26/2/2026).
“Then, we found out from the media that there was an import from India of 35,000 vehicles of each type, totaling 105,000 vehicles, with a budget of IDR 24.66 trillion,” he continued.
Herman said that the procurement of 105,000 vehicles with a budget of IDR 24.66 trillion was never discussed in the DPR. He believes that this should have been discussed first.
“This is a very large budget, it should have been discussed first in the DPR, and to fulfill the principles of transparency and state financial accountability, it should also be open to the public,” he said.
Herman said that the urgency of the Presidential Regulation on Accelerating the Merah Putih Village Cooperative and the Merah Putih Urban Cooperative is to carry out the mission of bridging the basic needs of the community. However, he believes that the procurement of a large number of vehicles needs to be carefully considered.
Therefore, Herman agrees with the Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. According to him, the import should be temporarily stopped until there is an official decision from the government.
“If there is procurement carried out by Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, the procurement of 105,000 vehicles, I agree with Mr. Dasco to stop it first until there is a decision from the government that ensures that this can be carried out,” he said.
“Because, looking at the desire of President Prabowo Subianto, who always wants local capabilities to be prioritized,” he added.
