Gde Sumarjaya Linggih, chairman of the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) I of the Golkar Party in Bali, is still awaiting a decision from Golkar’s central board (DPP) regarding the status of I Putu Sika Adi Putra, the son of PSI Bali chairman I Wayan Suyasa. Sika currently serves as a member of the Badung regional parliament representing Golkar’s faction following his father’s leadership of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) in Bali.

“There has been no update (from the centre) yet; he is still with Golkar and apparently he has been called by the Badung regional board and he says he is staying with Golkar, ready to remain with Golkar, so hopefully that is true,” Demer told detikBali on Sunday (15 March 2026).

Demer can only wait for Golkar’s central board decision and observe how committed Sika remains to the party. “And later, if it does not work out with Golkar, then time will tell. How far his commitment goes, his character, and both his and his father’s character,” added the member of the People’s Consultative Assembly.

Nevertheless, he appreciated and acknowledged the commitment Sika had expressed regarding his readiness and continued loyalty to Golkar.

“We have already reported this and it is up to the centre to decide. Because we are still busy with our own matters — we have not yet held regional deliberations in several provinces — so that is where our focus remains,” said Demer.

It was previously reported that Demer had suggested I Putu Sika Adi Putra resign. Sika is the son of I Wayan Suyasa, a former Golkar cadre in Bali who now serves as chairman of the Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) in Bali.

“Ethically speaking, if his father has moved to PSI, he should resign. Ethically it would be more elegant to step down, making it more respectable,” Demer told detikBali on Sunday (25 January 2026).

Demer stated that Golkar’s constitutional bylaws (AD/ART) do not permit family members to join different political parties, except in cases where they are in different electoral districts.

“In our case, if they are in the same electoral district, it is not permitted, unless they are in different electoral districts. By different electoral districts we mean Bali. For instance, if the electoral district is Lombok, there would be no problem. We use the electoral districts for the People’s Consultative Assembly,” explained the member of the People’s Consultative Assembly.
