Demand Projected to Grow, PGN Targets Gas Trading Volume of 877 BBTUD
PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN), as Pertamina’s gas subholding, is committed to continuing its strategic natural gas projects. The sustainability of strategic pipeline and non-pipeline infrastructure projects plays a fundamental role for PGN amid demands for energy resilience and transition.
In 2026, PGN targets natural gas distribution to various customer segments at around 877 BBTUD, or a 4% growth. This is driven by optimism regarding demand growth from several industrial areas and new customers, particularly in East Java and Central Java. PGN will also complement natural gas services with LNG distribution. This optimism is driving PGN to strengthen operations as the main foundation.
“PGN’s focus in 2026 is on strengthening operations as a long-term investment to ensure reliable services to customers. PGN also has high hopes for connecting natural gas to communities in various sectors and economic centres,” explained PGN Corporate Secretary Fajriyah Usman.
PGN’s main strategic projects involve accelerating several initiatives to strengthen transmission, distribution, and regasification infrastructure. This development direction includes expanding service reach through customer attachments targeting commercial and industrial sectors across various business scales. PGN is also completing infrastructure projects such as the Cikampek-Plumpang Pipeline, plans to add the Sei Mangkei Distribution Pipeline route, and development of LNG storage and regasification facilities.
To expand energy access to households, PGN is accelerating household gas networks (jargas) in Sumatra and Java. This step is accompanied by midstream infrastructure innovations through beyond-pipeline modes, namely CNG cylinders, LNG Hub retail, trucking, and Vertical Gas Liquid (VGL) tanks.
Complementing these innovations, PGN is strengthening LNG infrastructure through optimisation of the Arun Hub & Storage facilities, which now feature top-notch security, and expansion of LNG facilities to eastern Indonesia for the electricity sector.
PGN continues low-emission initiatives, committing to sustainability through development of renewable and natural gas products for Green Energy Business, such as biomethane and gas derivatives.
“In implementing strategic project development in 2026, PGN continues to strive for optimisation by prioritising prudence principles and providing direct impacts for society and the company,” Fajriyah concluded.
