Demand for Business Licence Assistance Remains High in Penajam Paser Utara

Penajam — Despite centralised assistance for the issuance of Business Identification Numbers (NIB) for Individual Service Workers (PJLP) having been conducted on the ground floor of the Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) Regent's Office, the wave of applicants has yet to subside. The Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) of PPU continues to receive temporary workers arriving directly at the front office seeking guidance on business legalisation.

"Even after we provided assistance on the ground floor of the PPU Regent's Office over three days, many people are still coming to the front office at DPMPTSP," said DPMPTSP PPU Head Nurlaila.

The situation reflects that the need for guidance cannot be resolved through a single round of collective assistance. Although centralised training has been conducted to help workers understand the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, the platform's complexity and gaps in understanding mean a number of participants still require further support.

Nurlaila acknowledged that the surge in service requests has not diminished her agency's commitment. She reaffirmed that DPMPTSP's assistance services remain open to anyone who needs them, whether temporary workers or other independent business operators.

"We are striving to be optimal. When it comes to licensing services, I am committed to opening the widest possible space for business operators in terms of DPMPTSP assistance to make things easier for them," she said.

The assistance provided encompasses technical support for data entry on the OSS-RBA system, selection of business classifications (KBLI), and re-verification of issued NIBs. In a number of cases, minor errors such as incorrect address entries or wrong business type selections can render documents invalid within the government's e-catalogue system.

According to Nurlaila, the philosophy behind the OSS system was born from the spirit of simplifying the business licensing process, not complicating it. However, she conceded that for some members of the public, the supposed convenience still feels complicated due to limited digital literacy.

"The rationale behind OSS is indeed to enable business operators to process their business licences easily, quickly, and comfortably," she affirmed.
