Delivering Directives in Serang, Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Emphasises Performance Improvement and Organisational Strengthening
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SERANG — Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim emphasised the importance of swift decision-making and strengthening the quality of human resources within the organisation. This message was delivered to the Cilegon Immigration staff during directives at the Serang Class IIA Prison and Serang Class IIB Detention Centre.
The Head of the Cilegon Immigration Office, Aditya Triputranto, along with his staff, attended the event as an effort to strengthen organisational performance and public services.
Silmy Karim stated that leaders must be able to compile expectations and translate them into concrete steps. She emphasised that decisions must not be delayed as long as they remain within the scope of authority, and the quality of human resources is the main foundation of the organisation.
“A healthy organisation is born from healthy and professional human resources,” said Silmy Karim.
She also highlighted the importance of active internal communication to drive performance improvements. Silmy Karim explained that barriers such as slow responses, difficulty in accessing leadership, and uncommunicated ideas must be eliminated.
According to her, communication and logistics are two determining factors for organisational success. Leaders are also asked to view the organisation holistically, not just from an individual perspective.
Silmy Karim affirmed that performance changes must start from changes in mindset. She said that different results will not be achieved if the same work methods are used.
In the corrections sector, she spotlighted the issue of overcapacity in prisons and detention centres, which requires concrete and measurable solutions. Collaboration among leaders of technical implementing units is seen as the key to addressing these issues without sacrificing organisational quality.
In closing her directives, Silmy Karim reminded the importance of discipline and employee development, including basic matters such as neatness. She asked all staff to strengthen synergy to build a professional organisation and increase public trust.
