Defence Minister Backs President Prabowo’s National Resilience Policy
Jakarta — Defence Minister (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin confirmed that his ministry fully supports all directions of President Prabowo Subianto’s policy in the field of national resilience. He stated this on his official Instagram account @sjafrie.sjamsoeddin, which was posted on Friday. ‘The Ministry of Defence fully supports the President’s policy directions to strengthen national resilience comprehensively,’ Sjafrie wrote on his account, which was monitored in Jakarta. He said that President Prabowo views the Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Negara (APBN) not only as a financial document but as the main instrument to champion the people and the nation. It was evident in the way Prabowo outlined the Kerangka Ekonomi Makro dan Pokok-Pokok Kebijakan Fiskal (KEM-PPKF) for the RAPBN 2027 during the Plenary Session of the DPR RI at the Nusantara Building of MPR/DPR/DPD RI, Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/5). Through the APBN, he continued, Indonesia has an opportunity to strengthen the economy and ensure that all government programmes benefit the people. Sjafrie said one programme that has a significant impact on people’s welfare is the strengthening of national resilience. ‘National resilience includes economic, food, education, health, and defence sectors, and they are a single strategic unit in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and ensuring the future of Indonesia,’ he said. Therefore, Sjafrie assured that the national resilience programmes will continue in accordance with the President’s orders to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and the people’s welfare. It should be noted that the Ministry of Defence, through the TNI, is involved in several national resilience programmes. One of the most visible is the food resilience programme through the construction of food barns by the TNI across the country. The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) has also been tasked with building food-security lands at each Yonif Territorial Development (YTP) base located across Indonesia. The food-security lands will eventually produce vegetables, fruit, and rice that can be enjoyed by the public. Likewise, the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) has done the same by instructing units across Indonesia to plant vegetables and fruits on idle land around air bases. As with the TNI AD, the produce from the TNI AU’s food-security lands is set aside for the people.
