West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi stated that the work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) implemented by the West Java Provincial Government is running effectively. The provincial government applies WFH for ASN every Thursday.

Dedi said that ASN performance is not only measured by physical presence in the office, but also by the achievements attained. The success of ASN performance, according to Dedi, can be seen from indicators of budget expenditure realisation that match targets.

“We have been implementing WFH for a long time, and it is effective. Just look at the development products, whether they succeed or not. So far, administration has run well, and budget expenditure realisation is even over,” said Dedi in a written statement on Monday, 30 March 2026.

The central government plans to implement WFH for civil servants to save budget. This budget-saving measure is taken due to the surge in world oil prices caused by the war between the United States and Israel against Iran.

The government has not yet officially announced the WFH scheme for ASN. However, several regional governments have already implemented it first, including in West Java.

Dedi Mulyadi emphasised the importance of bureaucratic effectiveness and strengthening technical personnel in public services. “The problem with us is that there are too many structural positions, more functions that order rather than those that do the work,” he said.

According to Dedi, the government needs more superior human resources directly involved in technical services. Therefore, Dedi will increase the workforce in services that are directly technical in nature.

In addition, this Gerindra Party politician said there are several important agendas being worked on by the West Java Provincial Government, from the submission of the Accountability Statement Report (LKPJ) to the audit process by the Financial Audit Board (BPK).
