Death Toll in Iran from US-Israel Attacks Reaches 1,900 People
As many as 1,900 people have been killed in Iran due to attacks by the United States and Israel since the war broke out. In addition, another 20,000 people have been reported injured.
“The humanitarian situation is deteriorating rapidly,” said Maria Martinez, head of the Iranian Red Crescent delegation, during a press conference with the UN, as reported by CNN on Friday (27/3/2026).
“Tehran, a city with around 9 million residents, feels truly empty,” she continued.
Martinez added that a rescue worker found the bodies of his own family under the rubble of a building destroyed by the US-Israel attacks.
“In Qom, other rescue workers found his aunt and her husband, along with a young child,” she added.
Much civilian infrastructure has been damaged by the US-Israel airstrikes, including around 289 medical facilities as well as 600 schools and educational institutions. Seventeen Iranian Red Crescent offices have also been damaged, and nearly 100 ambulances have been destroyed.
Inflation, which was already rampant in Iran before the war began, has skyrocketed further. “(Inflation) is severely limiting access to essential goods, including food and medicine,” said Martinez.
Several cities in southern Iran have experienced power and water outages. Nationally, Iran is facing an internet blackout. Meanwhile, the Iranian regime has not released official casualty figures since the war erupted.
