Dear State, 3,176 Families in Grobogan Await Aid After Flood Impact
The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Grobogan Regency, Central Java, has recorded that floods affecting the area impacted 3,176 families across 16 villages, with 11 houses suffering light damage. “The floods that occurred in 16 villages on Thursday night (2/4) spread across five districts, namely Kedungjati, Tanggungharjo, Gubug, Tegowanu, and Purwodadi,” said the Head of the BPBD Implementation Unit for Grobogan Regency, Wahyu Tri Darmawanto, in Grobogan on Friday. He explained that the floods resulted from high rainfall from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM WIB, accompanied by water inflows from the Tuntang River and Serang River. This condition caused the river water levels to rise and overflow into residential areas in several regions. He detailed that the area with the largest number of affected residents is Kedungjati District, with a total of 2,102 households. The floods inundated nine villages there, namely Wates, Kalimaro, Jumo, Padas, Deras, Klitikan, Ngombak, Kedungjati, and Kentengsari Villages. Water levels in several locations were reported to range between 10 and 50 centimetres (cm). “In addition to submerging residents’ homes, the floods also caused light damage to 11 houses, particularly in Ngombak Village and Kedungjati Village,” he stated. In Gubug District, the floods submerged two villages, Penadaran and Ringinharjo, affecting a total of 814 families. Water up to 20 to 60 cm temporarily inundated residential areas in several hamlets. Meanwhile, in Tegowanu District, the floods submerged around 200 homes in Sukorejo and Tanggirejo Villages. Water pooling also temporarily disrupted learning activities at State Elementary School 2 Sukorejo, which was affected by the floods. In Tanggungharjo District, the overflow of the Kliteh River caused flooding in Sugihmanik Village, impacting 60 families. Additionally, water pooling temporarily hindered traffic flow on the Gubug-Kedungjati road section in Mrisi Village. Whereas in Purwodadi District, water pooling occurred on the Danyang-Pengkol road in Candisari Village for about 100 metres, with water height around 20-25 cm. The Grobogan BPBD, along with volunteers and local residents, has carried out handling efforts by coordinating with village governments, sending aid in the form of sacks and tarpaulin sheets, and conducting community work to raise the embankment of the Tuntang River in Ringinharjo Village, Gubug District. “Most of the water pooling has receded, so residents have started returning to their activities. However, the public is still urged to increase vigilance given the potential for further rain,” he said.
