SINGAPORE (AFP): A German company, UHDE GmbH, and Singapore's Sembawang Projects Engineering Company Pte. Ltd. (SEMPEC) have been jointly awarded a US$60 million contract to build a hydrogen peroxide plant in Indonesia, it was announced here.

A statement from SEMPEC said the plant, to be built for PT Risjad Brasali Peroxida, would be located at Cikarang in West Java and due for completion in the second half of 1996.

SEPEC's part in the project would include overall project management, detailed engineering of the offsite facilities and utilities, procurement and construction of the plant.

The Germany company would provide the process technology and engineering as well as supply the equipment for its operations.

The contract is the first project undertaken by SEMPEC and UHDE since the two companies entered a partnership in May this year to pursue turnkey projects in the region.

SEMPEC is a subsidiary of Sembawang Corporation, a member of Sembawang Engineering which is a member of the listed-Sembawang Corporation.

Sembawang Corporation's main business is in ship repair and marine related activities. Its Sembawang Shipyard is one of Singapore's top three shipyards.
