JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – A day after the incident in which four project workers died, the atmosphere at the building construction site on Jalan TB Simatupang, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, appeared deserted without any activity on Saturday (4/4/2026). Kompas.com’s observations at the scene of the incident (TKP) showed no construction activities or movement of workers within the project area. The view along Jalan TB Simatupang, right after the junction with Jalan Ranco Indah and adjacent to the Burger King outlet, was dominated by abandoned reinforced concrete structures. Most of the upper sides of the building were covered with blue safety nets. However, their condition appeared dull and torn in several parts, reflecting a project that showed no signs of construction activity in the near future. At the front, a perimeter fence made of corrugated zinc sheets and plywood tightly covered the base of the project area from the view of road users. A yellow banner reading “FOR SALE” with a contact number was prominently displayed on the fence, emphasising that the land and building were now being marketed. Behind the fence, piles of leftover materials and scaffolding frames were visible, still standing but unused. In the vicinity, residents who usually gather at a nearby ojek stand said they had not seen any activity since the incident occurred. “Since yesterday’s incident, it’s been quiet right away. Usually, there are workers coming and going, but now there’s none at all,” said Ipan (45), a local ojek driver, on Saturday. It was previously reported that four workers on the building project on Jalan TB Simatupang, Jagakarsa, died in a workplace accident on Friday morning (3/4/2026).
