Day 2 of Operation Ketupat 2026: Traffic Accidents Down 92% Compared to 2025
Deputy Police Chief Komjen Dedi Prasetyo reported that traffic accidents on the second day of Operation Ketupat 2026 have fallen significantly by 92 per cent compared to the same period last year. He made the announcement whilst inspecting the Integrated Command Post at the rest area on KM 57 of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road in West Java.
“From our monitoring through day H+2, traffic accidents have decreased by 92 per cent. This is very positive,” Dedi told journalists on Saturday (14 March 2026).
He also noted that fatality rates have dropped by nearly 100 per cent. Whilst 26 people died during the equivalent period in 2025, there have been zero fatalities recorded so far this year through day H+2.
“Alhamdulillah, we have zero casualties to date. We hope the public remains vigilant, careful on the roads, and does not push themselves beyond their limits. If someone is tired, they should rest,” Komjen Dedi said.
Overall, the former Head of Police Public Relations assured that traffic flow remained smooth despite an increase in vehicle volume. He added that the exodus on the first day of Operation Ketupat 2026 saw a 15 per cent increase in vehicle numbers compared to the same period in 2025.
“In 2025, approximately 66,000 vehicles passed through the toll road up to KM 57. Today, the figure has reached 75,000 vehicles, averaging around 3,300 vehicles per hour,” he continued.
Operation Ketupat 2026 runs from 13 to 25 March to secure traffic flow during the Eid holiday exodus and return journey across Indonesia. Police also urged the public to utilise the 110 hotline for assistance if needed during their travels.
