Jakarta (Ministry of Religious Affairs) - Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs confirms that all processes for the departure, arrival, and movement of pilgrims from Madinah to Makkah are running smoothly, orderly, and under control. Based on data from Sunday, 211 flight groups (kloter) comprising 81,992 pilgrims and 841 personnel have been dispatched to the Holy Land.

Of this number, 199 kloter with 77,269 pilgrims and 793 personnel have arrived in Madinah. Meanwhile, the movement of pilgrims from Madinah to Makkah is taking place in stages, with 52 kloter numbering 20,689 pilgrims and 212 personnel having arrived in Makkah to perform the obligatory umrah and prepare for the peak of the Hajj pilgrimage.

“Up to the 14th day of operations, all departure and pilgrim movement processes are running smoothly and under control. We ensure that every pilgrim receives assistance from personnel at all service points, whether at embarkation, in Madinah, or during the journey to Makkah,” said Ministry Spokesperson Maria Assegaff, quoted on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

From the health services perspective, cumulatively, 8,575 pilgrims have received outpatient treatment, 130 pilgrims have been referred to the Indonesian Hajj Health Clinic (KKHI), and 172 pilgrims have been referred to Saudi Arabian hospitals (RSAS), with 58 pilgrims still under care. Overall, the health condition of pilgrims remains monitored and receives optimal handling through services at the kloter, sector, and referral facilities.

9 Pilgrims Pass Away

The Ministry also expresses condolences over the passing of two pilgrims in Madinah on 3 May 2026, bringing the total number of deceased Indonesian pilgrims to nine so far. The causes of death are dominated by cardiovascular diseases and respiratory disorders.

“We extend our deepest condolences for the passing of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims. The Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) ensures that all rights of the pilgrims are fulfilled, including the performance of substitute Hajj. May the deceased be granted the best place by Allah SWT,” she added.

To improve service quality, the Ministry emphasises strengthening the governance of wheelchair services (pushing assistance) as part of its commitment to providing Hajj services that are friendly to the elderly, people with disabilities, and pilgrims with mobility limitations.

Wheelchair services are managed in a standardised, coordinated manner based on needs, covering services in sectors, inter-city transport, and in the areas of Masjidil Haram and Masjid Nabawi. Every service user and personnel are required to have an official Control Card issued by the PPIH.

“We are strengthening the governance of wheelchair services to ensure that this service is targeted correctly, safe, and free from deviant practices. All services must go through official mechanisms, and there must be no illegal levies in any form,” she stated again.
