Danrem 163/Wirasatya Requests Customary Villages to Provide Land for Merah Putih Village Cooperatives
The Military Resort Command (Korem) 163/Wirasatya held a socialisation event for the Merah Putih Village Cooperative (KDMP), inviting perbekel and customary village heads from across Tabanan Regency at Petiga Village, Marga Subdistrict, on Friday (17/4/2026). The socialisation aimed to outline plans for KDMP development, including addressing on-the-ground challenges.
Following the event, the Commander of Danrem 163/Wirasatya, Brigadier General TNI Ida I Dewa Agung Hadisaputra, explained the current obstacles, particularly in Bali Province, which centre on land acquisition. According to him, many KDMP projects have yet to be built due to land constraints, as most available land belongs to customary villages.
“The development of KDMP in Bali remains low at present due to land issues, where the land is mostly owned by customary villages. Meanwhile, assets from the province or regency are very limited,” he stated.
Therefore, he hopes that customary villages can provide the land for future KDMP construction. Additionally, once built, the assets from the customary villages will not become government property but will remain under adat control. “This includes the income from the KDMP, which will entirely return to the adat for the welfare of the community,” he emphasised.
In line with the Presidential Instruction (Inpres), the building size requirement totals 1,000 ares, with 600 ares for the structure (20x30 metres) and the rest for parking. However, if the land provided by customary villages is less than that, they will still maximise it according to field conditions.
“In Tabanan, only two villages in Penebel Subdistrict have met those requirements so far,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Tabanan Regency Secretary I Gede Susila added that this socialisation encourages maximising assets from customary villages. “For example, temple courtyard land. This can be utilised for KDMP development,” he said.
Susila also revealed that he has received instructions from Tabanan Regent I Komang Gede Sanjaya: if obstacles persist, they will push to maximise assets owned by Bali Province or state-owned enterprises (BUMN) located in Tabanan for KDMP construction.
