JAKARTA - Danantara Indonesia CEO Rosan Roeslani revealed that investments in the health, education and sanitation sectors will be channelled through the Danantara Trust Fund. Between 1 and 2.5 per cent of state-owned enterprise (SOE) dividends will be set aside by Danantara for allocation to the Trust Fund.

"The funds we are putting in amount to 1 to 2.5 per cent of the dividends we receive, and this year I have placed US$100 million into the Danantara Trust Fund," he said during a Meet The Leaders event at Paramadina University in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday evening (13/6/2025).

Rosan said Danantara receives an average of approximately US$7 billion per year in SOE dividends. If 1 to 2.5 per cent of these funds are set aside, the Danantara Trust Fund would receive around US$140 million annually. Over five to six years, Rosan said the Trust Fund could accumulate close to one billion US dollars, equivalent to approximately Rp16 trillion.

"Within five to six years, the Danantara Trust Fund will have one billion US dollars, or 16 trillion rupiah. Although the contribution is small, that's already in our planning," Rosan explained.

He said Danantara's investment in the education sector would not focus on the rate of return. Investing in education means investing in people, which is fundamentally a long-term investment.

"When you invest in education, when you invest in the people, the return figure is not the primary consideration because we are investing in the people. That's a long-term investment. So that is what we are doing at Danantara," said Rosan.

In the health sector, he said Danantara is collaborating with the Gates Foundation, established by Bill Gates. During the prominent American businessman's recent visit to Indonesia, Bill Gates donated US$150 million to contribute to Indonesia's health sector, including vaccine-related initiatives.
