Jakarta — Investment and Downstreaming Minister/BKPM Head and Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani has confirmed that his office is pursuing strategic investments to create new employment opportunities. This is aimed at addressing the demographic bonus challenge, with two million babies born every year in Indonesia.

"This is a challenge for Indonesia — how we can create more jobs. And creating jobs is the top priority in Indonesia," Rosan said in a written statement on Sunday (15/6/2025).

Rosan made the remarks while speaking at the International Conference on Infrastructure (ICI) 2025 on Thursday (12/6). He expressed his hope that Danantara would serve as a magnet for global investors to channel capital into Indonesia, particularly in infrastructure projects and downstreaming industries that can create high-quality jobs for the younger generation.

He highlighted the demographic challenge, where two million babies are born each year, demanding the sustained creation of employment opportunities as a key priority for long-term, inclusive and productive development.

Rosan explained his dual role as Investment and Downstreaming Minister/BKPM Head and CEO of Danantara, a new body managing assets exceeding 900 billion US dollars across various nationally strategic sectors. He said all state-owned enterprises (SOEs) now under Danantara's control would be optimised to create added value through consolidation, privatisation, and close collaboration with private sector players both domestically and internationally.

"It is impossible to build all major projects alone, so private sector involvement is a crucial key to developing the nation's various economic potential," he said.

He noted that Danantara currently oversees 50 SOEs and 889 subsidiaries, all of which are being directed to generate maximum economic value through efficiency, innovation, and strategic cross-border partnerships.

Through Danantara, Rosan is opening up co-investment opportunities with international partners across various sectors, with the conviction that such collaboration will deliver mutual benefits and accelerate national economic growth.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said Danantara has a strategic role in infrastructure development. "We hope for good collaboration," AHY concluded.

The ICI 2025 was attended by ministers and deputy ministers of the Merah Putih Cabinet, ambassadors from partner nations, members of the MPR, DPR and DPD, regional heads, business leaders, academics and development partners.
