Danantara to Build Financial Centre, Government Prepares Initial Scheme
The government has begun discussions on the plan to establish the Indonesia Financial Centre (IFC). This project is still in its early stages, focusing on site studies and supporting policies.
Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani stated that the discussions involve the Coordinating Minister, Finance Minister, Bank Indonesia Governor, and the Financial Services Authority.
This plan will soon be reported to the President.
“We will be called by the President to discuss the establishment of the Indonesia Financial Centre (IFC). We are currently reviewing the locations; yesterday we looked at Bali. We are discussing what needs to be done, both in terms of regulations, law, incentives, and so on. Including the homework (tasks) that must be followed up from the OJK’s side,” said Rosan at the Ministry of Finance, Jakarta, on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
“So, that’s why we just talked initially because this is the first meeting. Later, we will also look at comparisons with existing financial centres in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and other countries.”
The IFC discussions are taking place as the domestic economy records positive performance. Economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 reached 5.61% year-on-year.
“Alhamdulillah, our economic growth reached 5.61%. This shows that our economic growth is running very well and positive,” Rosan said.
Investment contributions have also increased. Its portion reaches 32% of total growth.
“From my portion (investment), this sector contributes 32% of the total growth of 5.61% (or about 1.8%),” said Rosan.
“Usually, investment contributes around 28-29%, so achieving 32% in the first quarter is a very good result. Our investment has been recorded above target,” Rosan explained.
The government will establish a special authority to manage the IFC zone.
Danantara is prepared to be directly involved in the development of the zone.
“There will be its own authority body. In this case, we (Danantara) will act as the builder of the financial centre zone itself,” Rosan said.
