RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s plan to accelerate the development of solar power plants (PLTS) has received significant investment support. The state asset fund Danantara Indonesia announced it has secured USD 1.4 billion (approximately IDR 23.66 trillion) in funding to build a 50-gigawatt (GW) solar power plant component factory.

Danantara CEO and Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry, Rosan Roeslani, said the facility is targeted for completion by the end of this year. “Domestic production can later be used to support the accelerated development of solar power plants,” Rosan stated in Jakarta on Thursday, March 5, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

According to Rosan, the factory will support the government’s efforts to expand solar power plants in villages, particularly those already connected to electricity distribution networks.

The plan to accelerate the energy transition was discussed in a closed meeting led by President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace. The meeting was attended by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto, and the President Director of state-owned land weapons and ammunition maker PT Pindad, Sigit P. Santosa.

During the meeting, the government formed a task force to accelerate the transition to new and renewable energy (EBT), led by Minister Bahlil.

In addition to investing in factories, Danantara has developed a 1-megawatt solar power plant prototype in Sumenep, East Java. The prototype will be reviewed by teams from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Higher Education before being implemented more widely.

Minister Rosan added that President Prabowo had instructed Danantara to examine financing schemes for the construction of solar power plants in villages. “The President has asked us to study several funding options in collaboration with domestic entities and private parties that have solar and battery technology,” he said. ***
