Danantara prioritises proven technologies for Waste-to-Energy Power
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Investment Management Agency for the Future Power of the Archipelago (BPI Danantara) Rosan Roeslani stated that they are prioritising proven technologies for Waste Processing into Electricity (PSEL). “We are open to other technologies. We are basically open, but the important thing is that we prioritise technologies that have been proven to work well in many countries around the world. Of course, we give priority to those,” he said during a press conference at the Danantara Building in Jakarta on Tuesday. In the press conference with the Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, he revealed that the government has identified 20 agglomeration areas across 47 districts/cities as priority investment areas for PSEL. President Prabowo Subianto has requested that areas in cities and agglomerations generating more than 1,000 tonnes of waste per day be prioritised for PSEL. Meanwhile, for cities generating 500–1,000 tonnes per day, they do not meet the main criteria of the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) which designates priority PSEL areas with waste generation exceeding 1,000 tonnes. To date, based on monitoring and evaluation by a joint team, there are seven agglomeration areas across 26 districts/cities with waste generation of 500-1,000 tonnes per day. “The equipment can come from countries like Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, China, and there will also be products from us ourselves,” said Rosan, who is also the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).
