Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Investment Management Agency Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara Indonesia) has established a new state-owned enterprise (SOE), PT Daya Energi Bersih Nusantara or Denera.

Denera was officially formed on 1 April 2026 and is part of the subsidiary of PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM), which will focus on implementing Waste to Energy (WtE) projects or Waste Processing into Electricity (PSEL).

“Daya Energi Bersih Nusantara is a company newly formed by Danantara Investment Management (DIM) on 1 April 2026, which has a focus on implementing the PSEL programme,” said Fadli Rahman, Lead of Waste-to-Energy and Director of Investment at DIM, during the Afternoon Coffee Session at Wisma Danantara in Jakarta on Thursday.

Denera will hold shares in each PSEL project, with the ownership structure set at 70% for the Business Entity for Development and Management (BUPP) partners, and 30% owned by Denera.

“Denera will also be a company that is integrated in waste management. So, integrated waste management is something that must be focused on properly, which is PSEL,” said Fadli.

On this occasion, Fadli stated that the PSEL project is the main driver for building an integrated waste management system.

He assessed that the PSEL project not only generates electricity but also encompasses waste management from upstream to downstream, starting from disposal sites, processing, to recycling.

“And how we will educate the public to manage waste better because culture also needs to change in waste management. We will also focus on developing waste other than household waste, such as industrial waste,” said Fadli.

Danantara targets opening the second wave tender for PSEL projects in April 2026, for PSEL projects in 25 cities in Indonesia.

Danantara’s Managing Director for Stakeholder Management and Communications, Rohan Hafas, said that the number of cities involved in the second batch will be far more than the initial stage, due to the high interest from local governments in that jumbo government project.

“There are 25 cities in the second batch. So almost all provincial capitals will receive waste processing facilities,” said Rohan.
